Jared is a recovering addict who has used his UFC platform to help others struggling with drugs and alcohol. He is incredibly open about his journey, starting with being the victim of a sexual assault when he was just 9-years-old. In his early teenage years, a massive fire in New York City destroyed his father's business, losing the family millions of dollars and causing their lives to be completely turned upside down. It was then that Jared got heavily involved in drugs. Incredibly, he also took up MMA and had a natural gift after boxing and wrestling while in school.
