Today's Tanya is the second half of parrotests. Yesterday we learned that the nephicily kiss, our godly soul, spreads its influence upon the body from the mind, the brain. While the nephicily hummus, our animal soul, spreads its influence from the left chamber of the heart. They are like two kings trying to overpower each other to gain absolute control over a city and its inhabitants, without any interference from the other.
On one side, there is the nephicily kiss, who wants that the entire body, including the intellect, emotions, thought, speech and action, should all be vehicles to its expression, meaning that the mind should be occupied with contemplating the greatness of Hashem, which will also develop emotions of awe and love for Hashem in his mind and heart. An intense love that will subdue the temptations of his animal soul to the point that the animal soul is divested from worldly pleasures allowing its impulses to be transformed into a love for Hashem and a pleasure from being close to Hashem. As a result, all of his emotions, as well as his thought, speech and action, will also be occupied exclusively as expressions of his nephicily kiss directed towards Hashem, his terror and mitzvahs. On the other side, there is the Nefeshev Hamis, who seeks the exact opposite of everything the nephicily kiss wants.
Ultimately, the Nefeshev Hamis does this for the person's own benefit, that he should overcome its desires and bring him closer to Hashem.
