#10 - The Old Testament as Our Heritage & Our Role in Environmentalism (2-Part Ft. Dr. Sandra Richter)

from Adventures in Theology · host Brayden Brookshier

In this packed episode I have a wonderful conversation with Old Testament Professor, Dr. Sandra Richter, who quickly has become a friend. This two-part conversation is lengthy, yet a rewarding one. In our time together we tackle two discussion topics: 1) First, we clear the air with all of the confusion regarding the Old Testament. Isn't it an outdated book for those who are ethnically Jewish? Shouldn't we merely appreciate it as history? Dr. Richter and I beg to differ! If you are a believer (no matter your ethnic background) the Old Testament is your story, too! We both find ourselves specializing in the study of the Old Testament, so get ready for an engaging conversation in which we argue for the continual relevance and continuity that the Old Testament has for us today! 2) Second, (starting at 53 minutes, 18 seconds) we talk about Dr. Richter's upcoming book on environmentalism. You will discover that Dr. Richter's mission is so much more than just saving the trees; it is about saving lives! And it is more a theological discussion than a political one. Dr. Richter and I argue that the topic of environmentalism is an unavoidable one if we want to take our role seriously in bearing the image of God on earth.  We appreciate Dr. Richter and want to support her.
