10: Was the Illuminati good?

Officially the Illuminati were started in 1776 by Adam Weishaupt with the best of intentions the order appeared to be a force for good trying to enlighten society. The monarchy and the church did not think so and soon after their creation they were hunted down by the Duke of Bavaria. He passed Edicts or growing intensity that culminated in the members of the secretive order being put to death for their membership in the Illuminati. Weishaupt was banished and after a mere 11 years the order was finished. A Catholic priest believed there was more to the story and that the order merely went underground to try to undermine society from the shadows. He believed the French Revolution was aided by the Illuminati and in writing a book about it ten years after the fall of the Illuminati he helped galvanize a legacy of conspiracy that still thrives to this day.
