Some journeys don’t show fruit for years. A decade into endurance racing with my horse Khaleesi, something unexpected happened at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville — a top five finish and the high vet award, on the 10th anniversary of her entering this sport. Not because we were the fastest or the most naturally gifted, but because we stayed the course the right way for a long time.
