101! Visibility Spell

Wolverine gameplay, massive PlayStation State of Play reveals, and dark forbidden magic secrets—we cover it all in Episode 101 of the Weekend Weebs podcast! Join Alonzo and Jason as they break down the biggest releases in gaming and deep-dive into this week's anime episodes. First up, the guys unpack the blockbuster announcements from the latest PlayStation State of Play. Jason gives his reactions to the unexpected God of War spin-off and the brutal, 10-minute Insomniac Wolverine gameplay trailer. They also dive into the reveal of Marvel Tokan, the upcoming 2D fighting game by Arc System Works featuring Carnage and Green Goblin. Plus, Alonzo shares his hot takes on why the Spider-Man franchise missed the mark for him, before the duo debates whether live-service trends are ruining modern multiplayer titles and clash over the slow, intentional difficulty of Souls-like hits like Elden Ring and Bloodborne. Next, the conversation shifts to weekly anime reviews. Alonzo catches us up on Hiromu Arakawa's Daemons of the Shadow Realm Episode 9, analyzing the sudden attack on the Kagemori clan grounds, the looming twin prophecy of chaos, and whether this slow-burn manga adaptation is finally gearing up for a serious tone shift. Finally, the hosts dissect a massive character-driven episode in Witch Hat Atelier Episode 10. They discuss the growing magical bond between Coco and Tartah, look closely at Quifrey's suspicious memory-erasing lies, and debate the ethical boundaries of forbidden magic like invisibility and human cellular healing. Could the dark side of this seinen fantasy world lead to a major character death down the line? To close out the show, the guys talk about Studio Bones production teams and lock in their final predictions for the Spurs vs. Knicks series.
