102. Leadership Attributes And The Navy SEALs with Rich Diviney

from The Leadership Project Podcast · host Mick Spiers / Rich Diviney

💭 What are the leadership attributes of the world’s toughest teams- the Navy SEALs?Rich Diviney spent close to 21 years as a Navy SEAL where he held multiple leadership positions including the Commanding Officer of a Navy SEAL Command. It was when he took charge of the selection and assessment for one of the specialized commands that led him to deep dive into the intricacies of team performance. After his retirement in 2017, he ventured into the leadership performance space and wrote The Attributes: 25 Hidden Drivers of Optimal Performance. In this episode, Rich talks about the significance of accountability in delegating responsibility across the team, as well as in enabling them with the resources, skills and support for them to be successful and self-managed. The conversation then continues to discuss the different attributes to ensure optimal performance amidst uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. Unlike skills that are easy to assess, measure and test attributes underlie how teams behave when faced with uncertainty. As human beings, we have innate attributes of varying levels. Attributes drive values, values drive, perception, perception drives feelings, feelings drive choices, and choices drive behaviour.🎧 Download this episode to know how understanding your own attributes and those of the people around you can create optimal performance in all areas of your life.🌐 Connect with Rich:Website: www.theattributes.comLinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/richdiviney/Instagram: instagram.com/theattributes/Twitter: https://twitter.com/richdivineyYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/theattributesTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@rich_divineySend us Fan Mail The Thrive Careers Podcast My career wasn’t a straight line—it was a series of pivots, survival jobs, and...Listen on: Apple Podcasts   Support the show✅ Follow The Leadership Project on your favourite podcast platform and listen to a new episode every week!📝 Don’t forget to share your thoughts on the episode in the comments below. 🔔 Join us in our mission at The Leadership Project and learn more about our organisation here:  https://linktr.ee/mickspiers 📕 You can purchase a copy of the Mick Spiers bestselling book "You're a Leader, Now What?" as an eBook or paperback at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09ZBKK8XVIf you would like a signed copy, please reach out to [email protected] and we can arrange it for you too.If you're thinking about starting a podcast or upgrading your hosting, Buzzsprout is a great option!
