Instead, the increased 10-team competition saw the birth of Gujarat and Lucknow Super Giants, the latter of which also made the playoffs in their inaugural season. The playoff matches were split between Kolkata and Ahmedabad, and the big crowd for the final demonstrates the world's wealthiest T20 league's undying popularity. Where talent meets opportunity: the IPL played up to its slogan once more, with the 2022 season revealing a slew of pacers, some raw and others polished.
