Amejo アメジョ(アメ女)：“Amejo” is a Japanese derogatory term referring to young Okinawan women who date male members of the United States Forces stationed in Okinawa Prefecture. The latter part of the word means “woman” or “girl.” — WikipediaAlthough the term is often described with negative connotations, many women today use it in a more positive, self-affirming way.It’s said that “Amejo” doesn’t just come from America + jo (woman), but can also refer to the Okinawan dialect expression America-joogu — meaning “someone who likes Americans.”「アメジョ」とは、日本の沖縄県に駐留する在日米軍の男性と交際する沖縄の若い女性を指す日本語の蔑称です。この言葉のもう一方の構成要素は「女性」または「女の子」という意味を持っています。— Wikipedia より —この言葉はしばしば否定的な意味合いで語られますが、現代ではむしろ自分らしさを肯定するポジティブな意味で使う女性も多くいます。「アメリカ＋女=アメジョ」だけでなく、沖縄の方言で言う「アメリカ〜じょーぐー(アメリカ人好き)」を意味していると聞くこともあります。
