He got his first big break co-producing Steve Aoki’s track ‘Just Hold On’ which currently has over a half a billion streams online. Since helping produce that record, he’s released official remixes for artists such as Niall Horan, Zayn, Seeb, Bastille, and lots more. Outside of his high-profile remixes, he’s racked up millions of streams with his original releases. In this episode, we dive deep into Jay Pryor’s background, looking at how a kid from Dublin with zero connections worked his way up to signing with a major label and producing for some of the biggest artists on the planet. We talk about how he got into music production, why he’s glad he took a gap year after high school to focus on music, getting rejected a lot early on and dealing with rejection, as well as how he organically gained the attention of several major labels. We also talk about his production workflow, how he approaches layering, his keys to a clean and big mixdown, and his best advice for newer producers. This is a longer interview, but trust me, you won’t want to miss any minute of it.
