I want to talk about Will's bagel. Because that's a big one. Oh, yeah. It's a new scent.
I wrote that down straight away. Like my notes on my phone. I was like, we need to talk about it. Where'd you get it from?
What was it? I got it from the same, same spot. Rocky Mountain Bagel Company and fucking. I was driving past there after we talked about it saying how fucking busy it was.
And I get, I drive past normally you just drive past and you do the look. You just look. Oh, there's people outside that fucking Q's ages. And I looked and the Q was like just in the door and I thought, I got fucking to it.
So I literally, and there was a parking spot outside the front. There's normally no parking. You got to go far away. The stars aligned for you there then.
So I was like, ah, I just quickly whipped in, hit the parking spot. Q wasn't that bad and it was moving quick. And that bagel was called the eggle. And I got in it.

I think originally it's about like nine to ten dollars, probably like six pound, five, six pound. But then I added, it came with bacon. It was a bacon eggle or something like that. Then I added some nice ham or something like that as well.
Nice. It looks tasty. So it was probably a little bit extra, probably an extra dollar fifty for the extra bit. Yeah, but it did look good.
Oh, mate. Yeah. And fucking it was a maple bagel, which I wouldn't have tried until Canada. I'll probably have tried it there.

Yeah. It's not like as if they'd poured it on there, it's cooked in. So it's like, maple's got such a weird, it's like a strong flavour, but it isn't overpowering the bagel. It's like a tongue flavour.

Sometimes bagels can be a little bit like, well, it might be a sandwich, but that sounds, that sounds like a, I like a blueberry bagel. Don't get me wrong. But if you take a bite in it and you eat a bit of a blueberry, it can be a bit overpowering. If you've got it with something else, unless you've just got it with like fucking butter or something.
It's not like that. It's not like a, any extra bits of maple, if that makes sense. Yeah, it's like a proper crispy, nice bacon, still like malleable bacon, but with a crunch. You know?
I don't think bacon. Yeah. You want it to be crispy as fuck, but not burnt. It is a little top tip for you when you're cooking your bacon.
I only found out about this not too long ago, but if you boil your bacon, literally, put your boil your bacon in a frying pan and then you just let it kind of absorb it some more, then when it cooks down, you literally, you'll guarantee the best bacon ever. I've never done that before in my life, I saw a chef do it on the internet. Yeah, I tried out. I saw something like that.
Yeah, so it never just cooks evenly as well. Yeah, exactly. So you get that cooked, you know, you basically get that shit cooked bacon you get from a travel lodge if you stay in the next day, you have to put them in the morning. That sort of really crap bacon with all that white shit on it that you, it's like, I don't even want this now.
You know, I've got a grisly sort of like remnants. Yeah, yeah. So you get that, you'll basically, it does that first and then it continues to do it. So it's a char, that piece rather than a dried out piece.

Yeah. Well, let's keep things moving. Let's talk about John O's Warhammer Endeavour. So John has been in some tournaments recently that he's been like setting up or helping set it up.
And I'll let him kind of tell you the results and where he's at in the door hammer leagues. Yeah. All right. So a couple of weeks ago, I went to one.
Yeah. Yeah. Mid September, I went to one. I've been dick off.
So not too far away. Nice. Oh, wait. You're traveling for these, have you?
Oh, yeah. It's just like football going home and away sort of thing. Like, yeah. Well, nice.
Yeah. We, a few of us from the shop, we went and we'll be some practice for our one in a few weeks time. And then one of the guys who keeps up with the kind of like the competitive scene for Warhammer, start to recognize some of the names that were there. And it turns out we stumbled into the, these people practicing for the London Grand Tournament, which has 600 players.
Wow. And they'll be all good. Yep. Money involved in that, John.
Sorry. I think the big ones there is. Yeah. It's the biggest, the London GT is the biggest European tournament for Warhammer.
That's crazy. Yeah. It's not just English and it's not British players, European players as well. Yeah.
People travel like abroad for it. The competitive scene for Warhammer is big. It sounds serious business as well. And so, but that one in Dicar, I play free games.
I got my arse handed to me. I lost all three and I came dead last. Ah. But the guy that won that one went on to become, he got eighth in the London Grand Tournament.
Nice. Experience. Oh, but. Yeah.
So I was in company with some legit people. Like a pro. You're a pro. Okay.
Now. But then on Saturday, I put on a tournament for the shop. So I organized it and put it all together and played in it as well. And I did better.
I did win a game. I came ninth out of, out of 14. Nice. Actually, I'm going to take a little bit of that.
I've already made tweaks to my list. I know what I want to do. But my brain was frazzled yesterday. Because it's a full day.
You start at the first game was at half 10. Yeah. You're not done till eight. Is it like managing a football team?
You know, in that respect, you're going out there, you've got these strategies that you want to kind of implement. But then you've got to kind of play off the cuff when you're in there. Yeah. Yeah.
So you like, because going into it, you know who you're playing first. But your, your army's locked in. Your choice is locked in. But you can make your strategy.
It's like, okay, I'm going to do this, this and this. But because it's, it's still rolling dice. So there's still a bit of randomness to it. And the dice can fuck you sometimes.
I just need, I just need a free. I should do it. That's one. But it was good.
My, my army is playing the blood angels. Nice. And they're all, they're fast. That's what they do.
They've all got like a jack packs. They're just flying around the table. Just killing whatever. So with, so with your blood angels mate, do you, when you're rolling these dice, you know, explain how it actually works and how do you attack people and that sort of stuff.
Yeah. So every unit or squad has a stat sheet. So it tells you how far they can move what you need to roll when you attack. So when you, when you move up the board and you charge someone, your face to face with a model.
Okay. It says I've got six attacks. So you roll six dice and their weapon skill is free. So you need to roll free or higher on those six dice.
And there's rules and abilities that improve that or change certain things. But it's a lot to remember. So, so when you're talking about those, like the sheet that tells you how far you can move and all that sort of shit. Is that everyone's has a same or do you have, what your kind of characters have different stats and, you know, movements, then your opponents.
And if so, my follow up question is, would you have their sheet next to you just to make sure they're not fucking cheating? Yeah, they're like a ref or something. So, well, yeah, there's, you, you do kind of have to. Just accept what they're saying is true.
I'm not going to be terrible. But I was the, it's called a tier at tournament organizer. They, if someone's got a rules question, they'll, they'll ask and you go over and it's like, oh, I want to do this. I think it does this, but my opponent is saying this.
Okay. Well, it's, you got to do it like this. Yeah. There's a lot of arguments.
No, there can be. I bet I can get preheated if someone's saying they can do something and someone believe them. So at the London tournament, there was this, there's a whole thing, these two people that were quite, like, favorites to do really well. They got in a dispute about a rule and then they, they overran on their time limit and they were both scoring themselves.
And at the end of the game, they didn't have the same score and they couldn't agree. Oh my God. So, and the, the judge then was like, you guys, you got to make, you got 10 minutes submit a score and they couldn't do it for that 10 minutes. 10 minutes is up.
It's like, and no score was submitted. So they both scored nothing. Both got a loss. Just have sheer pride.
I like that. I like that. Even the judge, like you're saying, it's like, boys, you got to figure this out. I ain't figuring out for you.

That would be, it would be good to watch. Like, can people, can we go down to spectator beer on the side and watch people or whatever you work like that? I think it's pointless. I need to be nervous just a bit.

There's loads of kind of rules, things that I think could be better. But I love the game. It's so sort of, when it works and when you're doing well, the kind of satisfaction that you get from it is so good. And when it fucks you, it fucks you hard, probably.

Do you feel like on when you went to the proper game that you learned quite a bit because obviously there's a lot of so much direct and you was like learning loads of shit that you wouldn't have learned from just playing local games? People are really good in that because they want to have a good game at the same time. Sure. A lot of the time they will say, well, I'm going to be doing this. So you might want to rethink what you do here.

So, John, I can imagine you sitting there and you've got everything on display, but I can't truly imagine what it's like. So I'd like a little rundown, but you're going to have to get some sort of banners behind you or something, a turbo sports banner. So when you get there, you set it up, maybe even like a tent just in case the lightens too harsh, a cooler machine, a little beer fridge. Yeah.
You can come in and argue with some massage as well. You know what I mean? A towel over your shoulders. Yeah.
Nice hot towel. In the inbox matches, you're going to have more face between the rounds. No way of piecing your ear. That would be really useful actually.
Someone's just looking at the rules. Remember to do this. Yeah. Yeah.
But yeah, do you have like a, what are some of these guys set up? You're just bringing like pretty much a box of your army that you select. And can you, is there like things you can bring to the fucking battlefield? You can't.
So you can, the models have to be the models. They have to be the right models. Yeah. There's a thing called converting.
So you'll take those are different kits and make a different character. Don't have anything next to me. But like you'll take the arms from one guy and the body from another and put them together. And so under the, this guy is going to be this guy.
And the main thing is base sizes. Yeah. Because if you, if you put someone on a massive base, like they're going to be on a 40 mill base, but you put them on a 60 or an eight email base. They're six inch movement is actually going to be a way less or we know more.
Oh yeah. Yeah. Because you could, yeah. Does it work that you would go from, you go from the front, measure from the front of the base?
Yeah. Yeah. That's, that's sneaky. I like that.
That'd be so. I wouldn't do go like the biggest you could go because then you're going to get caught in. Yeah. You just got to go.
Yeah. Well, yeah. Well, yeah. Some of, uh, some of the characters that I use, because they're so old, um, they actually come with much smaller bases than a lot of modern characters do.
And, but you can still use the smaller base, which actually, because where you measure, and he's just one guy, he, he's less likely to get attacked from more models because they want bigger bases. Only a couple can fit around him. Nice. But he can squeeze in gaps because there's certain times that you can't move over your own models.
You have to move through a gap. So can be on on that smaller base. It's like, it's legal. So I'm doing this.
Yeah. Nice. So there are some shenanigans you can pull. Um, but some tournaments actually have a rule where you get extra points for having a fully painted army.
So it forces you to early on, you need to make your decision because, and you've got to submit your list like a weaker in the runts. Wait, so you telling me there's some fucking motherfuckers on this, on this stage, you know, on the little set that aren't fully painted. Like that's disrespectful. Sure.
You can't be knocking about some grays on there. Sometimes it happens. If I came in like first time coming in, I was like, the fuck's he's got, he's just not bothered painting him. What a lazy bastard.
This, this, I mean, looks sweet. And then this will just turn up on a day. He's opened a box around there. I'm not too sure.

Because I mean the food in itself mate, you're not mean if you were just slapping 20 quid down. You're not really worried are you then? No. If you're getting fed.

So let's move on to, uh, to Will's. You've just, you've just passed some sort of gun license thing. Yeah. Yeah.
So on a Saturday, I did my non restricted Canadian firearm safety course. So basically, if you want to, if you want to get a gun in Canada, you've got to do a safety course. And then after you've passed the safety course, you can then apply just through the government to get a gun license where they just do like a background check and all that sort of shit pretty much. Like, oh yeah, this guy is real.
He lives here. He's not fucking criminal. He's not for a danger, whatever. So I did that course.
It was pretty fun. It was a whole day in a classroom sort of thing, like this gun, uh, gun range pretty, pretty fucking fun and interesting for obviously us a lot from England. You don't really get too much experience or knowledge or anything. So it was really fucking fun, actually.
Yeah. So did you, did you shoot anything on the day? Or was it all like, theory? So it was kind of split into two, but all the guns and ammo was deactivated.
So they were, they were one time real, but now basically they're like, some of the internals taken out. So it acts like a gun. It just doesn't work. So you can safely practice everything.
Yeah. It's all basically like 50% of the day was just like, you know, your slide shows this. And you, so there's none, those two courses, you have to do the first one first. If you want to do the second, it's non-restricted, you standard rifle shotgun sort of thing.
And then you can do your restricted if you want, which is your like pistols and more advanced guns, let's say. So, well, yeah, we did the non-restricted theory. So it's kind of like you had to learn how all these different types of guns work. There's like seven different actions of a gun like a revolving rifle because you can get them a break action rifle, a bolt action rifle, a pump action rifle, a shotgun.
Yeah. I think that's pretty much it. So you basically have to watch a video how they'll work. So you can understand how they'll work, how you would load them, how you'd identify the ammunition, all that stuff.
And then basically we got all these guns with all these actions and you have to learn how to use them all. And basically you got to learn to assume every firearm is loaded. And then you've got to prove it safe by fucking pointing the muzzle of the gun in a safe direction in case it does go off. You want it to be in like the least damaging area sort of thing and you need to learn what that is.
So you need to point it there, you need to remove the ammunition. So you take the magazine out if it's got one. And then basically you look in the, you open the fucking bolt chamber or whatever, look to make sure there's nothing loaded into it. If there is, take that out.
And then basically you look where the ammo would feed from the magazine into the chamber to make sure there's nothing there. And when there's nothing in there, the other, the last step is to look down the barrel, make sure there's nothing obstructing it. Make sure there's nothing obstructed in the barrel because otherwise you wouldn't be able to know through those checks, but nothing can fire if it's in the barrel and you fucking take it in for now. And then, then it's safe.
So basically you learn how to do all that. You do multiple choice test out of 50 and then you do a practical test and you got to get 80% in both tests pass or above. You know, I got 100% in my practical and I got 98%. So I got like one question wrong.
It's pretty easy. I knew we was going to fucking smash that up. You weren't going to worry about that. I wasn't going to fuck that up.
No, you wanted to do it. You wanted to get it done. I said I'm not going to waste some money there. So yeah, it was a really fun day.
There was an old boy, big Canadian John Candy style guy. He was like an ex-military ex-swap, please, sort of, you know, like, proper like imagine him in a film, old boy, like Canadian fucking big, most of his expressions with his face quite loud and he was pretty fucking good character. Nice. Going back on Saturday for my restricted, so there'd be mainly handguns and a few other things.
So that'd be even more interesting. Yeah, more than stuff, I guess. Kind of. So that'll be all, it's basically everything.
Okay. Because out here, you can do muzzle black powder guns because you can do different things with them and people like the history on it. Or you can go all the way up to like new stuff. So they have, even for the first course, you have to know everything between.
Sure. Same with like new ammunition and not because we got loads of English guns out here. Always working. I forgot they're called now.
They're all made in like 1920s, just from the war. And they just get sent to there from that. Or like a Lee-Enfield or something like that. Or like out here, the most common rifle is like Lee-Enfield for Canadians.
Not like new to buy, but for like a couple hundred dollar rifle. Not bad. So yeah, it's going to be interesting when I get everything sorted out. I'm excited.

And some range. Have you got your eye on a particular gun or you're going to wait and see? I would really like to get into as much handgun stuff as possible. I don't know if you've ever seen any of that John Wick stuff.
Like it's called like Ipsyk. Where it's like, do you know what I mean? All safe handling, but it's like past doors, fucking next target and they might be like good guys, good guys and bad guys. They're all just cut outs, but it's like safely doing all of that as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
And that shit is really like big competition, worldwide and different countries. I think that ships looks really rewarding, really fun, a bit of discipline in there. I think that would be cool. Might be a bit hard to do that at the moment because potentially they might be trying to phase out handguns here at the moment.
They're just like a temporary import ban. So just no new handguns are coming in. So basically everyone that's in Canada has pretty much been sold right now. But people are just selling them as if it's like a fucking supreme gun.
You know, they're ain't anymore at the moment. So I suppose there's always going to be a second-hand market for us. Yeah. And most of them have been bought to resale.
Come on, pretty much. They just doubled in price. But I'd really like different types of blocks. I think they're really cool.
I've been looking into them a lot. I shot some of them on my birthday. But if not, just a semi-automatic rifle is really fun for target practice. It's really, really fun to use.
Anything with a pump action. Pump action would be great. Because it's fun. You know, it's just shooting them.
You know, shoot them. I'm just at the range just pumping. Yeah. So yeah, a little bit of everything I think.
Because I've never had the full option of being in America and stuff like that on other people's stuff. It'd be nice to just kind of experiment from an English person. And I've only had minimal firearms experience. So just being able to just try a little bit of everything I think would be my best shot.
