Don't fix it. Yeah, I'll do that next. Zippo, check. Alright.
Check. Ready? Ready. Morning.
Good afternoon. Good evening. You are listening to the AllTalk Car podcast hosted by Bitarunas joining me tonight. Is Mr.
Columas-Danther. We've got a special live drive tonight. We, erm, we've, those are on Instagram now. We're about to drive.
But we got excited because after we drove the Porsche Taycar on the last episode, we're now going to drive. Where's the other end of the spec from now? We'll get through the similarities within one sentence. Let's start her up.
We've got to set it before. I sat in the seat and everything lit up. You're now sitting in the seat. Nothing's fucking lit up.
Nothing's lit up. Right? I've had to put the clutch in. That's a clutch.
I've had to put it in neutral. Because it was no digital display. It's only about fucking gear. I had the key.
It didn't even show barrel. Oh, that's that metal thing you showed before. It's got all these little teeth on it. They're supposed to get it in an open every through.
But the lights come on when you click at the first time. First time. Right? And basically what you do.
You have to put two pumps on the pedals. Oh, before you started. Yeah. That is the sound.
That's the sound of a Dodge battery. That's it. So we're inside a VK rock Commodore Blue Meanie. And it's probably revving the fuck out of your ears at the moment.
Because the sound levels are through the roof. So we're going to take this Blue Meanie as they're officially known for a drive. So let's get out of this layer that we're in. So basically this is a VK Commodore.
For those of you who are probably not about holding Commodore's. They're a German designed, they're originally an Opel. And I built in Australia from 1979. And this was based on the original shape.
But the VK went through a major redesign. The VK was the first of the plastic. Plastic bumpers had the extra window in the seat miller. So it's based on the Opel's cinema which is like the Calais of Germany back in the 80s.
So they called it the Opera window. Opera window. And the dash went four squares. So basically it's a rectangular dash but the actual gauges are square formation.
Which I thought was quite unique in its day. And then the Calais had the digital dash. But these things weren't based on the Calais though. Were they built in the exactity?
The VK Group A was based on the lightest one which was the SL. SL? So basically what happened? Holding needed to accommodate 500 cars.
Okay? For Group A racing. And the holding engine was a 308Q with just over 5000 CCs. That meant it had a...
So what holding did with the Group A? Well D-strung it. Got it just under 5000 so 4.99. Yeah it was just under 5000.
And it was a 4.9 layer. And in order for it to go racing. Well we're going to go racing anyway. But it just meant that they...
So there was a 500 and... Yeah, a 400. And it was successful to a degree. Race that spark as part of the World Touring Car Championship.
Yeah so back in the eight mid-80s, well the Touring Car was really taken off. Okay, 4 control jags and the rovers at BMW. The three series. E30M3s.
So it's very rough. Yeah we're about to have just getting outside the layer. We're going to take it out into the streets for a... So let's get the similarities out of the way.
So we're comparing it to the Porsche Taycar. So basically this has got four wheels and four doors. And steering wheel? Like the Porsche Taycar.
I wouldn't call the headline, so it's all like candles compared to the Taycar. And that's it. And the cheeky handles as well. And the dashboard it's got a green light but they're not very bright.
Well basically with this, it is fortunate that it has the square instrument. I thought the square dials you could say. Yeah. So basically I know that at about 11 o'clock I'm doing 60h.
I'm doing 80 and at one o'clock I'm doing about 110. Okay. That's what I'm doing. Because apart from the needle, that's all I can say.
Is that a hit up display? It's just your heads are out for this. It's not a hit. The pre-cake ribbait had a one speaker in the rear puzzle shelf.
And once the guy in the middle of the dash at the front, and the fan radio. So that's still that mean they weren't loaded. There's no power we got. Air conditioning was an option.
It's no central locking. This is like... This is the... This thing weighs about 1200 kilos.
And it's made for racing. That was it. That was it. And for homologation the race said that was in the turret cars.
And basically they got the unique... They all came out in the same blue. Yeah, same blue which was very... At the time Peter Brock was aligned with muggle.
And it was very close to the muggle blue. It's not... It's not exact but very close to it. But the very bare.
It's not like the last of the HSVs which were fully loaded with lacerate. Oh, and as they're like two new. And my most other thing is the VK in case SL stuff. It was very popular with the high lap drop across Australia.
They were light. Some of them actually came... But the... The whole room of the police had a little bit more poke, manifold, carburetors.
If you remember the police cars, they didn't have the square dash. Because their speeders were calibrated. Yes. So they had the incremental ones?
Yeah. So they didn't have the next cock car. The next cock car. But I mean they had a lot of poke for the time.
And the holes in the dash. With the radio and the seatbeats. So now we have outside the lacer. So this car is pretty much as was in 1985.
The only thing that's probably... It's still got the same spare, can be seen as they're shocks. It's not the... It's not the front brake calipers to the later fleet model.
20p. Yeah, you need double brakes. It still runs the 16 inch wheels. It still runs the same 225, 50, 16 tires.
And you can pick out a carola now. And what were the mags that's the design core? What was the original mags? These were the aero rims.
They're very similar to the Corvette wheels of the same era. Yes, they were too. Very similar. Not quite the same.
Some would say they're looking like they're looking well. And they came either in a machine finish with some like in the pins. Or they came with this one. It has in Alpine 1, which is really still there.
Yeah, they look really nice. So another thing with this one, it's running the original box in the E-box was an M21, which barely handled the power of the car on the side. And that's on the T5, 5, so that it was an option. I broke the T5 twice in this.
Okay, now these car still runs basically factory everything under the bottom. Now it's got ported heads. It's basically got a grip most of the camshaft. But the, it's still running the factory manifold all the pollution near the air cleaner.
The factory and quadratica generator. But it's putting all the power in the 1, the 1, the 90, 95, 86. So now it runs the TRNX-TKO 600 E-box. Pop-all presides are what the M21 was.
And also the T5. So it runs the 10-volt soldering gift. But now running the True Track Center, we've done 3, 5, 5 years instead of 3, 0, 8. So guys are going to be clicking the right thing on.
It was refreshing to set it upside and just run pump unletting. So you don't have to put any additives into it. Yeah, because this was at 85 isn't it? So, yeah, so it's now on the go-me-to-strain.
So we've got the, everything's being done. It's just got to drop out pump unletting. Alright, so I'm going to, we're getting on the motorway. We're on the on the other side.
We're just going to stop talking. We're going to let the blue mini do some talking now. We don't know what that got up tick. It was about one, one, two, one, six.
Yeah, but we are in Mexico. We're on the on ramp. Yeah, it's a little big. It's a smooth car there.
I think this is a 40, you have about 60. Yeah, 60. Oh, there's a look up. One people stare at this car.
They're a very rare car at the moment. And they're worth big bucks. And they're not doing 200, okay? Yeah, it's one for Solid, one for two, three, three.
And that's at the time of recording. And these things just go up and back. These are like the new collectors. A lot of them got really nice.
A lot of them got stolen. A lot of them got passed the dollars. They modified. It's as close to the original as you're going to get.
And all that's had to work, that's all. Look up to it. Look up to date. It says original as you get fined.
It says original as you get fined. It's a bit of a movie star too. It's been on TV. It's been on TV.
It's been on home in a way. Petting commercial. It's probably a big on a couple of high-life reels on to me cameras. But these days it doesn't see quite a trophy.
It's on Dines on to Sky Climb Ridge. Are these days? Yeah. So special occasions like this.
We haven't got it. The voice play card is fine. I said bring out a bit of nostalgia. A bit of old school.
I mean we grew up with these cars. So a lot of our friends. So all those three listeners out there, the other one that doesn't know us. We grew up in the 80s.
And basically a lot of these cars were meat bladers. I mean your first car was a Fiat wasn't it? My first car was a Toyota Corona. It was a Toyota Corona.
It was a Fiat. A Fiat Turbo. So a lot of us had meat bladers. We had Ford Fairmont here.
The Digital Dash. That was my big bike car. That was a fucking awesome car too. It's a ship ice bike.
We're doing your piece. The first car is always the best car in the world. I mean to give you an idea. We're sitting in fifth gear.
And those are the shorter gear. So it's probably about 3.5 years. But it's in fifth gear. Right on 100 Ks.
And it's probably in 2200 revs. Right on 100 Ks. And about 12.5 revs. How much is it?
Drink. I don't know. You know. I usually just drive 50 liters in up.
I'm going to go for a take it up for a day. Yeah. And I'm going to drive it up. I usually just drive 50 liters in up.
I'm going to go for a take it up for a day. Yeah. And I'll come back with everything. I come back with him.
I come back twice the FDA, twice the FDA, twice the FDA, in a fresh one, I take it out again. That's it, it's not a daily, you can't. It's not a daily car. It's not a daily car.
It's not a daily car. And Ross Goudin, we told him we're driving Australia, mate, car with go. I think Ross was a couple of lives. They were really headrests.
I mean, the only time he was in Australia, car was when his parents used to get to have some the Falcons a big number of problems. Well, Ross won't go with anything with their ABS protection in Seapelts, not in their mates. Not after all, we've done to it. But he wasn't present the time, I don't think he'll get a day last week.
So if you're in traffic, you've got to change gears, you know, get into first, gauge clutch. It doesn't like it in the roads. It's too rough, but you've got the freeway. You can cruise with this for a couple of years.
We've got the steering wheel. I can hold it. I can hold it. I can hold it with my finger.
There's no vibration in it. There's no track all over the road. It's well sorted out. Even the six on the maintainer.
You don't get into it. Going at the moment, the market's uncontrollable in relation to these old cars. Even the new ones, they've just got up. There's no sound deadening.
If this is just raw ones, they've got every bit of white thing they could get out of them. I've got the final door trims, manual windows, one speaker in the back. I mean, there's, you know, there's... There's a different era of motoring.
Like, the 80s, the EFI was starting to come in. Things were starting to get computerized, but there's still raw animals when you drive an 80s car. There's no sound deadening. The noise wasn't really...
Except for like, S-Class Merks. Hearing the engine was a standard of fear in the eyes. Our collection of manual is standard of fear. White up windows.
My kids wouldn't even know what that is. A lot of the... This one's got a tackle, a lot of the standard VKs. That vacuum gauge.
No, the vacuum gauge. Yeah. Now, the people in the green, if you want the same fuel. That was the novelty.
So it's just a push in. There's no get-versus. It's high. I'm setting the back.
So it's when my dog is making a drive and get a candy cane. It's like you get carcy. You get carcy. I don't know if people travel into slavery these days.
No wonder the kids got a lot of... You're a kid's a car but I'm sorry. I mean, you can't spill the engine. You can spill the fuel.
This is running a bit rich at the moment. It's been sitting around. It's true for a lot. Probably basically the least more months since it's in the shop sale.
I went up with the post up on Instagram. I was chatting about this. It's kind of like some of the tenors to our drive. It's all found.
So we can go old if we want. We've been invited. So we'll take that off and select it. We have to be our own tow truck.
I haven't been in one of those old foundtings. Does it come with that old mate? That car's old mate. That'd be a 50 year old bus car.
So we'll take that off our armpit moment. We'll be back in 1985. It's a Miley McLion. So there you have it everyone.
So that's the Blue Meanie. What are you going to drive next week? I think we've got the N3s again next week. We're lining up the track a couple of weeks ago.
I think we're going to spend some time with them. Two more at one at next week. We might have a call to the trail. It's been Captain Sedaris.
Oh, the captain. Well, the captain would like to go back in. He got the bug the first time he went. Yes.
And means to all those who want to take the kids along. So we're the permitting. We might have been playing a visit to Sydney Driveway. What do you think of it?
In the C43 again. We don't have to speak today because they've just been taking it out to see what it can happen. We could have done stage here. I'll post that for you.
I've got, I believe Sydney Driveway now permits passengers on Wednesday nights. We'll have to bring a helmet sound down to get a mallet. We'll have to get a white spot on you. We'll get with the super tight now.
So down to us right us reviewers. Thank you for listening. Bit of a treat tonight. I don't know where my driver's out here.
A lot more engine noise tonight compared to an electric car. But there you have it. The blue meaning, the VK Commodore. The Brockmobile call to watch it.
Thank you for listening and bye for now. Bye.
