Real good, real good, real good, real good, real good, real good, real good, real good, real good, real good, real good, real good, real good, real good, real good, real good, real good, real good. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another edition of America's Best Worst Canadian Sports Podcast. That's right, real good show is back at it again. For another week, it is episode number 107, and fellas.
I have figured out exactly why I'm just like so lacking in confidence with the episode numbers lately. Of course, as soon as we ran out of Jersey numbers, I no longer had to do the research in terms of what the episode number signifies, and I just completely disregarded it all together. But I did get it right this week. Justin Morissette with you once again with me as always is.
It's actually episode 108. I don't think so. John Cullen, and it's actually episode 109. Pretty sure I got it right this time.
No, it's 109. It's either 108 or 109, it's not 107. No, definitely not. I'm pretty sure the last one was 106.
We didn't record it that long ago. Oh, it was two days ago. Three days ago. Yeah, but that was 107.
Yeah. I don't think so. I think it's 109. I think I'm being gas-lighted.
Gaslit, is that the past sense? Gaslit'd be gas-lighted. You're in this sense, yeah. You're using the term gaslight incorrectly.
Am I? I don't think I am. Yeah, no, 100% you are. No.
I don't think so. Gaslight is where you hold on old lantern up in a cave. I thought it was when you put a lighter up to your butt and farted. I think that's also acceptable too.
But what did you think it was, Justin? It's like when people are trying to convince you of an obvious lie to distort your perception of reality. Oh, no. Yeah, no, it means that it's the cave thing.
OK. I think it's not our thing. I also think it's episode 109. All right, well, I definitely believe everything has transpired so far.
I'm John Cullen. You have no reason not to believe us. Yeah. Just like I.
Stefanik. Just like I believe that I was going to say Seabiscuit. But I guess Seabiscuit actually is dead. That is true.
Seabiscuit's definitely dead. I'm just going to say it's a dead first walk. I'll talk to get it by car. Yeah, I'll get it by car.
Well, no, Seabiscuit didn't die though, because the car was started the motor by cranking it. Yeah, it dragged in for some time. Seabiscuit killed the car. I think it was like a mutual thing.
They both got pretty fucked up. I was just very happy to see somebody tweet into the show recently. I mean, I guess currently you started interrupting. I guess currently if you hit a horse with your car, same thing.
What kind of horse? If it's like a pony? No, a pony, yeah. That would barely.
Well, no, because I mean, I feel like it was a deer. Well, you know, you're a veteran. You hit a moose. I drove over a moose that was already dead.
That's the thing. I mean, like a miniature pony. I mean, that's a Shetland. That's your word.
I mean, we don't know that. Yeah. Classic defense of a murderer. Wow, the body was already dead when I got here.
I just stabbed it a few times. It's already dead. Exactly. Speaking of old-timey cars, you know how I think it might have been in Kansas in like at the turn of the century, there were only two cars in the entire state and they managed to get into a car accident?
That's true. I don't know if it's Kansas. It was a state. It was in the United States.
That's awesome. I'm wondering if one like horses first got like domesticated. If there were like two guys that owned a horse, and they both crashed the horse into each other? I feel like a horse would know, though.
I think that all those horses are dumb. I mean, horses might. Yeah, I'm sure horses have crashed the other. They would have prevented the measure.
To like not just run into another horse in that it could see that it's coming in a horse correct. Or as the case may be, horse correct. I think you're giving you a car, I think. I think that all those Google cars.
I've ever told you about the time that I beat the game, horses too. Oh, is that like? I can't remember if I told you to say no. Is it like Nintendo?
It's for PS3, yeah, similar to that. So I don't know if I told this story on the pod before. I have a story if I have. The only people I think that would know are people who have listened like, you know, binge listened like 50 episodes in the last month or whatever.
But I was in Halifax doing a tour. My first tour ever. And there was a mix up with the hotel. And so it was going to end up costing us a lot of money to stay at the hotel.
Because you get to Halifax a couple days before your gigs actually start. Because you do at the time you did Newfoundland first. So I ended up having to swindle a favor. And I stayed at my friend's house who was going to Dollhouse.
But it was home for the summer. We got there and we're like, oh, sweet. She's got a PS2. We can play some games.
And the only game she had was a game called Pets Horses 2. And horses was spelled with a Z, H-O-R-S-E-Z. And so it was also spelled with a Z. It was.
And so two. It was two. It was also spelled with a Z. Yes, it was.
It was just a Z. But you just had to infer that it was a 2. So we, me and Kyle Jones, the comedian that I was staying with, it was our first night there. And while Kyle was really drunk, and I was just having a nice time as well.
And we stayed up all night. And we basically raised our horse from being a little Philly, all the way to being a grown adult lady horse. You're like getting close and stuff? Like how do you press?
Yeah, so you have to clean the horse. You have to clean the horse with other missions? No, not really. It's like a frog or something.
I'll make sure you take the horse across a highway. Yeah, exactly. That's actually the final boss. The final boss is modern traffic.
But yeah, so you had to clean it and groom it, take it out for rides, and it would meet other horse friends. And anyway, I don't want to get too emotional here, but I'll never forget Clit Dick. It was. You just made a real emotional bond with your horse friend.
Clit Dick. Yeah. She was really special to me, Kyle. Wonderful.
I was going to say, though, yeah, we did get a tweet recently from somebody who had just listened to the death of a Pharaoh episode. And also, completely hook line and sinker believes. I remember that. The whole thing.
So I just want to thank that person for admitting to that. So I don't feel so alone in this world. I really did appreciate that. I mean, it's hard if you, I mean, I think in that case, it's hard when you're in a room with two of your friends.
And I just spent the entire weekend moving. So I don't pay attention to the news at all. And we were both on side with this. It's hard not to be convinced.
I'm not. I mean, there's some hints in retrospect that I probably should have read a little bit into. Like me laughing. And like I think, I think, I haven't said that during one of the World Series games, they had like a tribute to the horse before the game started.
Yeah, you did. I don't think that would have happened. That would have happened. It took the flowers over Kyle Shorberg's.
Yeah, that was definitely the point where I was like, I can't believe Justin still believes it. That was the one point. I said I was relying on you to fill in the gaps here. And clearly, lesson learned that that is not something that can safely be done.
But I think the listeners can rely on us as a cohesive unit. Sure. Because of course, this is coming out on Monday. And it's been a huge sports weekend.
Yeah, absolutely. Well, the biggest advantage of the entire summer. We've been looking forward to it all summer long in the way that we talked about it maybe once, like a month and a half ago. But it was, of course, Mayweather McGregor.
It was this past Saturday night. Yeah, what a crazy fight. Yeah, just unbelievable. I can't believe all the stuff that definitely happened.
Yeah, I can't like when Connor like wrapped his fists with barbed wire and then like, yeah, yeah, like that was just what else happened, guys? I'm gonna make it sound slightly believable. Shut up. Hey, they were punches thrown.
True. They were punches taken. Yeah, it's got an all variety of like what you can do with punches. I thought it was pretty much than it happened.
Hey, I saw Mayweather pack. Yeah, and the fact that you just said they were punches thrown is not believable. OK, so try and get something more realistic. That's fair.
I thought it was crazy when Paulie Malinagi came in from the rafters, Alafangai and lifted Conor McGregor out of the ring. It was so crazy. Finally, the first believable thing that anyone said so far. Back.
To me, the craziest part is when the ceremonially butchered American pharaoh in the ring before the match. And it was like really, I don't know what the issue was able to have to, like it was slippery. There's a lot of blood everywhere. Yeah, of course.
It was, that was the prize though, right? The winner got to take on all that delicious horse meat and fry up some horse meat. It's not like a bear meat is good. And I've had a heavy IQ meatballs in like the window of time when it might have been hard to me.
It was probably one of my horse and they were good meatballs. So yeah, I think it was, I thought it was a nice touch that they brought in your when a cesspit is a butcher to the job. Yeah. That's great.
He's obviously got a lot of experience working with famous animals. And butchering them for famous athletes. Exactly. Absolutely.
Well, hey, it's always good to have a butcher on your rolodex. Yeah, it was like a scene in the pop-ups. Now where they they kill the cow. But in the ring.
And that's the end. When they chop up the cow. They chop that cow up real, too. I'm pretty sure.
I don't think you can take that. I've never seen a part of it. Yeah, because I'm fucking Jesus Christ. Do we watch movies though?
I don't watch movies. Although I have been watching movies. Yeah, I was going to say you have been watching movies. Yeah, yeah.
But I would never watch a talk about it. Do you feel like something's changed inside you? No, I still don't really like it. It's just that there's not that much on Netflix that I like.
TV series wise. And CraveTV doesn't have an app on the PS4. Did Netflix can't get the good place also? Or is that just the US?
I have no idea. But I've been watching this when I go to bed. When I go to bed and I watch CraveTV, I've been watching review, which is an excellent show. Absolutely not.
So yeah, so I've been enjoying that. And I could hook my laptop up to my TV, but I'm lazy. That's fine. Yeah, so I was fascinating stuff there.
Hey, listen, I'm just trying to bring the content to the listeners. I just thought there might have been a reason why. You would finally at the ripe old age of almost 38? Two?
32, yes. Thank you. Stefan, go fuck yourself. But just because I don't look like a 13-year-old sickly boy doesn't even have to fucking call me 38.
You finally decided that you will start watching films at this stage in your life. But it's just, surely out of pure boredom. And I'll keep your appreciation of the arts. No, no, yeah.
Once curling starts, then I'll be too busy at school. And also, do you call Neighbors a film? I mean, I think it's probably a flick. Yeah, it's probably a movie or a flick.
I don't think you really refer to that as a film. I mean, it was entertaining. Yeah, I mean, I think Aaron Holtz is really funny. He is very funny.
And I'll give him some help. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Stefan's close personal friend. I care.
He's friends that he's been spending just every weekend with. No, I haven't got with him yet. Oh, sure. No, no, no, not yet.
But he was your best friend. Yeah, you said you were your best friend with him. Oh, we've been talking. But he's busy with the Mindy Project.
Oh, of course. Of course. Oh, the Mindy Project. Yeah, we've all heard of that.
Sounds like you really named dropped the ball at this friendship. He even said his name first. Hey. Only because you've said it before.
But you're wearing a t-shirt that says, I could bear and hold his my best friend. No, I'm wearing a Simpson's T-box that's wrong camera. I'm wearing it. I don't know what you're talking about.
I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I don't know what you're talking about.
Oh, sorry. Yeah, it's Monday. Yes. Well, Thursday, but is that going to come out on?
No, we all watched the fights. Oh, sorry. They were really boring. Do you think I bear and hold his tickets in the fight?
Probably. Probably not. Anyway, apparently they're having trouble selling tickets. Well, yeah, because the ringside seats are 100 grand.
What? Yeah, there was Kendrick Lamar actually tweeted that he was looking up tickets for the fight. And he tweeted something like, god damn, there were some N-words in it. I can't remember exactly what he said.
Let me look up the tweet. It was really funny, though. Yeah, it was just like a screen cap of Ticketmaster. And it was two ringside seats.
And the bill was $212,000 or something. I'm assuming that the fights were very boring and bad, because I did see my weather pack. Yeah, when it taught me to never trust boxing ever again. Oh, yeah, terrible.
But here's a semi-serious question. Is this the end of boxing? No. No.
I mean, if you like boxing, there's a lot of very good boxers right now. Like, GGG and Canelo are both excellent. They're fighting soon, which I know a lot of my pure boxing friends are saying that they love their soap pump for that fight. Well, this is fitting that he's would do so many fights in Las Vegas.
But it's like Main Weather is like one last score. And then he's out of the game. It's like a big heist, essentially. So he's done after this.
And it just seems like there's no cultural cache behind any of the guys you just said who I've never heard of before. Personally, it seems to me anyways. Yeah, I didn't hear anything. You said I'm trying to find this tweet.
So I just don't think it just seems like plus the last fight was so fucking horrible. And presumably this one is too. It's like I feel like the bridge is burnt. It's over.
This one could be entertaining if I don't know anything about fighting. I'll watch it occasionally. But I think my understanding is it could be entertaining if McGregor just comes out swinging wildly. Which of course, you know, he did and won the fight very handily, of course.
McGregor? Oh, right. I mean, yeah. Yeah.
Remember when he came out swinging wildly? Yeah. But he should do it. He should do it.
Yeah. The actual fight he should do that too. Yeah. Let's talk about something that we actually know about.
It has happened. And we don't have to predict. Yeah, let's talk about some other things that have happened. Like, it's been like down to death.
So like, we're going to talk. So just to be clear, the bit is we're pretending. I mean, we're recording this on Monday as if the Mayweather McGregor fight actually happened. Yes.
But all the other stuff we're talking about is stuff that happened on Thursday. Yes. OK. Just checking.
Yeah, yeah, that's the bit. So yeah, let's thanks a ghost. Like I said, as if the fight has happened as though it is Monday and everyone knows that the fight got canceled and didn't happen. Oh, yeah.
I mean, how many crazy are you here? That'd be cool though. I like that. Yeah, maybe Connor misses weight tomorrow.
Yeah. I feel like we've really covered every option. I'm sure there's this point. So there's no way anyone can say we were right.
I was so fine. I'm a Gregor's dad. So crazy that he died. Oh, man.
Like, I was just wanting to see the fight. But speaking of crazy, we have a donut of the thing. Two dozen. It's crazy.
OK, I don't know about that anyway. Yeah, it was a little tenuous. Thank you for donating to the show. To the show.
You work hard for your money that we know that we know. The segments where we read out all your names. All your names. If we say it wrong, your parents are to blame.
Fuck your parents. Of course, it was just last week where we confirmed that Stefan, your father, Paul Heck, was our highest donor. Yes, he switches donation from $80 to $101.69. And that lasted about 24 hours before Rohit Bhati upped his pledge to $105.
And he says that he is going to up it by $1 for every episode that we release. So by the time we report next episode. We can be 110. This is episode 256.
So thank you for tuning in to the episode number that everyone knows, which is 256. And the fight happened two days ago. Yes. And Conor McGregor has died.
So thank you, Rohit, for that very generous donation. Very incredible. And we have a t-shirt donor as well. John Yolajero pledged $15 to the show.
It was planned through the back catalog. Yeah, he was the guy I think that said that he had done 57 in a month, right? Maybe not. But he is also, this has happened a couple times lately.
Somebody's listened to the episode where Stefan says, if you're listening to this in 2017, go fuck yourself. That's right. Which was two years ago. And people are now listening to that.
So is that a Christmas episode? No, around then. I think so. If you're listening to this episode, we don't.
We don't ask the guy. I hope so. If you're listening to this on Monday, go fuck yourself. If you're listening to this in 2015, tell me how you got there.
No, what happened? I want to go back. Tell me your secret. Now I have an additional segment.
This is kind of crazy. So on the last episode, we talked about how Adam Hyde had rescinded his donation. And I have a confession. I made that up.
Really? He didn't actually rescind his donation. I just said that to get a rise out of you, which worked. But then I went to check the exit surveys today.
And he did actually to lead a spledge today, along with this message. Alcohol is no excuse. In fact, alcohol is a problem. It's no wonder no one wants to watch his PS4's dreams when he conducts himself the way he does.
Is it really a wonder why his dates leave him? Stefan is always right. No, this is true. I'll show Justin after.
It's real. Stefan is always right. And John is polite. But Justin is deader to me than Harambe.
But Harambe didn't deserve it. I am never to return. Fuck you. This is OK.
This is like a bit on his part. No, I don't know. I don't think so. OK, Justin, let's let's let's let's let's take a brief here.
It is true. Yeah, it's there. I think he's doing it to get a rise out of my prediction as he will re-donate within two weeks. Here's the thing.
I've been super nice to him every time we've talked since then. I don't really feel like I was that mean. I mean, he obviously has a real problem. No, I don't think so.
I think that was fake. I think he's trying to get me to get into a work to shoot here. And here's the thing, Adam. I'm not going to do it.
Because look, you're a good guy. I'm a good guy. Let's be real here. You can match this up.
That's not the real one. That's my segment. Yeah, this is getting real with Justin. Listen, Adam, I'm calling you out.
That's being a good person. It's just a nice boy, I'm sure. But look, it was a rough patch for me. And you know, like John was saying, why are you set over pickles?
I already said it's clearly not about pickles. It was about something else. I think we all know what it was about. Also, I spelled that out pretty clearly.
I felt, and I'm not going to say what it is, because I don't want to deal with it anymore. But speaking of that. You do it. You do it.
The brand butter thing was a little weird, though, right? Yeah, it was super weird. And also. OK, to be there, you still like deal pickles, which is fine.
I never said that they were bad. I think he was good. I'm going to make him watch this video of me eating a dill pickle. OK?
But I wasted your own time. No, I think I'm going to just tell you who got to eat a pickle. That doesn't seem to waste time. I feel as though people thought, if you like bread and butter pickles more than dill pickles, then there's a good chance you don't like dill pickles, because they're so similar.
That you would have to hate logically. If you like bread and butter pickles that much, you probably don't like dill pickles, at least in comparison. Yeah, I think that's true. That was my thinking.
And also with the whole, I think coming on the heels of the mustard incident, people were shook up. It was like how 9-11 happened, and then a year later, a plane crashed over a Queen's New York. And everyone was like, ah, again? Are you fucking kidding me?
But you're talking about food on the internet. Yeah. Where's from me? Do you remember what happened by the way?
When the second plane crashed, you mean that? In 2002, I think. And I just remember it because the headline, I think in the Vancouver province was just not again. But this time I'm not being dast lit, though, right?
No, this is not a Mandela effect thing, because I don't remember. It's actually happened. Yeah, it did. It's two months later, actually.
Yeah. American Airlines Flight 587 crashes in 2001. Yeah, it's right here. Daily news.
Yeah. Memory. Three minutes after taking off from Kennedy Airport, a packed jetliner bound to the Dominican Republic suddenly broke apart yesterday in Slashler Queen's neighborhood that lost dozens of cops and firefighters in the Twin Towers attacks. While the crash immediately raised fears of a new terrorist attack, federal investigators said last night there's no evidence to suggest that disaster was anything but an accident.
All 260 people aboard were killed. And that was on November 11th, so exactly two months after. Oh, wow. So anyway, that was like you saying you like sweet pickles.
Oh, OK. Yeah, that was the sweet pickles to your master. Both of these things were coming on the heels of something else that I don't want to talk about. Yeah, but you brought that up yesterday.
No, I did not, actually. You did bring it up. No, I did not. Yes, you did.
No, I did not. We brought up the message. You brought it up. And then I leaned into it when it was forced upon me.
But I did not. Did I ever want it? We did not force that. Yes, you did.
I did. What was the wrestling term you used? He's trying to force you into work or something. It worked.
So what does that mean? Like when you're wrestling, it's like worked up? No, it's like where you a shoot is when it's real. And so a work shoot is when you're trying to make it look real, but it's actually a work.
Yes. And no one asked you to talk about squirting. I made the segment funnier by talking about what happened. Yes.
That's all time segment. That's probably a talk. I had multiple people to talk. I was forced into that.
No one forced it. Yes. Yes, you both. You said you should bring this up on the show.
And I said, absolutely not. And then you brought it up on the show anyways. That's true. So I'm right.
That's true. And we can move on. And we're never talking about it again. All right?
Fuck it. I'm done with this topic. This is what I've been mad about the whole fucking time, Adam. Obviously.
Obviously. Obviously. I have to say. So now I'm done with this.
And you got the reaction that you wanted. But yeah, enough. This thing that is this personal thing that hurts me never gets to go away because it's just this fucking thing that floats out in the air forever. It will be time to say anything.
And someone will just tweet in, remember the score episode from seven years ago? What's seven years? I wish I was dead. That's what I remember even when you tweet that at me.
OK? Leave me alone. If I was still doing the podcast in seven years, that's pretty good. Yeah, that's really good.
You were like, that's obviously what it was always about. Why are you mad about pickles? I'm not mad about pickles. Pickles are the least of my problem.
Oh, man. Someone in the RGS fantasy football league named their team Squirt Reynolds. I will, Justin, I go to say, from my point of view, right now, it feels like a standing over top of me screaming at me. It's the type of thing where I want to make this into a virtual reality like this.
Look, Adam, now we want it. And now it's over. So we'll move on from that. That's good stuff.
Into a real controversy. That's good content. I understand that is fantastic content. I can't.
I can't. I know when you get passionate and when you rant, I can't not laugh because you're so convincing. You're like, you're so, you're so, you know, I know. That's what I mean.
You have so much. You have so much passion. And it's just. The thing I never wanted to deal with is now.
Now, I will admit, I am the editor of the show. I could have just taken all that out. You could have. I'd like that.
But more credit to you because you must have known there was going to be some sort of, I almost had backslash, backslash. And sorry. I love that. I love that.
I love that. I love that. I love that. I love this content.
Like it, people fucking love this. Yeah, yeah, of course. They do. And I love it.
Like it's, I don't want to be laughing with you. I'm laughing with you. I'm laughing laughing. I'm laughing laughing.
You laughed a little bit. You laughed a little bit. He did laugh. I'm in the room.
He laughed a little bit. I thought I was a little sneaker. But yes, thank you, Justin. Thank you for.
We're going to do your personal life on the line for the show. Would you, okay, what would you like me to talk about? No, I'm not. You don't need to mind every single interaction for content, because some things are just private and should remember.
Sometimes content is like you're planning for gold and you get a couple of little nuggets. This is like striking a fucking heat. This is like, it's like a geyser of content. Is it a seam?
A geyser. Hey, how we're talking? Geyser of content now? We can do it more.
We can do it more. You think this is going to end? I retired butts before. They never stayed.
They never stayed there. We retired the other bit, which I'm not even a name out of respect. Thank you. It did stay relatively good.
I guess brought up a couple of times, but no one riffs on it. And people were like, hey, that's a retired bit. I see people get called out for, I'm not a retired bit. I call people out for it.
Also, so I think what we have to do is retire the bit. And also, before we retire it, this is not related to that. But you said that we're real friends. Do real friends block each other on Twitter?
If you can't handle the content, stay out of the content kitchen. The content kitchen. The content kitchen. That's the daily episode right there.
Yeah. That's the best way of cooking for us. Yes. That's Justin's Food Network pitch.
That would actually, Julia Ladkowitz had a segment for a while. She was trying to do a cooking show. And one of those segments, Julia Ladkowitz, a really funny comedian from Toronto now was in LA. And she actually had a segment called Meme Kitchen.
And she would make meals or recipes based off of memes. And it was super funny. So we can just kind of not piggyback off of that, but we can make a fringe. Yeah, it will pay her a royalty.
And then we'll just adjust it more as that's content kitchen. Let's talk about something that is. Are we going to retire it? No, not right now.
You don't want to officially retire it yet. No. You don't go to a hockey game. You're like, oh, by the way, we're retiring this beloved player's number.
We didn't say anything about it beforehand. We got to win. This is like next episode where we're retiring this morning. And next episode, you're going to be here in person.
So well, hopefully I have time because I've got a soccer game. Yeah, I've got to see. And also, I'm there for like two days. And so I think Irene wants me to.
But like, come on. Let's do the priorities. Let's talk about Irene. Well, we're moving out of the old apartment.
Like I'm helping everybody. All day's near me. The old apartment. I'll try to convince her.
Let's see how that goes. This is where you live. Who's that? Matchbox 20?
Broken hops. Broken. Something else. Bones.
Bones. This is where we used to live. The old apartment? Yeah.
They broke it. Who's it about? You're an American player. You can be a player?
Yeah. No. Did you call me a player? You call me a player.
I didn't send it too much time at the top, guys. It's fine. So I will say because Irene's listening to the show again. I love you very much, Irene.
Where's she moving to? Well, I can give the address. I don't want the address. She's still in Vancouver.
OK. Does she like moving to the room? He's Vancouver. Oh, close to me.
No, it's like a little sweet kind of thing. Oh, cool. It's nice. It's not like a huge, but it's nice.
That's not your penis. A little sweet? No, but not huge, but nice. OK.
It's a little sweet too. I know who we don't live here anymore. This is not that bad. I will move into New House on the Danforth.
Not the Danforth. That's how it's happening. I would have known it was the Bear Naked Ladies. I mean, I think she listens to the show again on a regular basis or a center-regular basis.
So I love you. And if you're listening to this, oh fuck, you'll be listening to this after I'm back in LA. After, yeah. You'll be back.
So I guess we'll find, like, did I record an extra podcast live on Sunday? I guess we'll find out. I think I'm getting in trouble for this, either way. Yeah, you're fine.
I'm getting in trouble for just saying. OK, I really do love you. And I'm so excited to see you, even though you're going to be listening to this. Oh my god.
What? What day is it again? It's Thursday. It's Monday.
