There is a common perception that the teaching of religion, particularly Christianity, is not allowed in public schools. The most common reason for this is the separation of church and state. But many states not only allow it, they require it as part of their curriculum. For example, in the state of California, sixth grade students are expected to: “Note the origins of Christianity in the Jewish Messianic prophecies, the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth as described in the New Testament, and the contribution of St. Paul the Apostle to the definition and spread of Christian beliefs (e.g., belief in the Trinity, resurrection, salvation).” Today on Educate For Life, Kevin’s guest is Eric Buehrer.
