107. Psycho (1998) Directed by Gus Van Sant

from Movies That Made Us Gay · host Scott Youngbauer & Peter Lozano

A boy's best friend is his mother.  We watched Psycho (1998) directed by Gus Van Sant no we won't apologize.  Hot on the heels of the success of Good Will Hunting, Gus Van Sant was given a blank check by Hollywood and he took a gamble on a shot for shot remake of the 1960 Alfred Hitchcock classic Psycho. Ravaged by critics and fellow filmmakers, this version of Psycho has a long and sordid history - and we are here to tell you... its not THAT bad!  In fact we enjoy the dang thing. Anne Heche is giving us a dizzy Marion Crane who makes one wrong decision after another.  Viggo Mortnesen is serving himbo-daddy realness.  Julianne Moore creates a character FAR beyond what was presented on the page and Vince Vaughn delivers a solid Norman Bates.  This movie is pretty queer and we are here to tell you - give it a chance!
