It's one that people think there's something magical or extreme if you survive year after year.
But the magic? It's because of you!
You can have all the strategies and tools, read every book written, and still not have the relationship you seek.
This week, I did a marathon excursion down south to go through our new home with the inspector. And when we got down there, we were exhausted already. Drove all night; 11 hours. So we had been up for over 28 hours.
We went to meet with the inspector and my husband joined us later.
Both of us were tired, pushing ourselves to a physical and emotional extreme.
As much as we hoped the inspection would be all great, inspections are made to find errors. Right? And we want to find those errors in a home.
But in a marriage, we tend to be the inspector, looking for the holes, the oopsies, and the faults.
Unfortunately, we point them out too often and usually not at the appropriate time.
We do not need to always be nit-picking apart our spouse.
Instead, we need to lift up and live with love.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Lift up and live with love!
- ELEVATE your spouse. Raise them up. Lift him up. Encourage your spouse. It's about what they can do, not what they can't.
- EMBRACE your spouse. Live with love. Love them where they're at.
- EMPOWER your spouse. Believing in them before they believe in themselves.
Look at your spouse and say.... Because of you, I will elevate, embrace, and empower.
That's exactly what God does for us. He says, "Because of you." And when we do what God shows us, this brings hope!
Don't take your marriage and look for the flaws. That's too easy. We all fall short. Your spouse doesn't need an inspector telling him where he has failed and what needs to be changed.
"Your spouse desires a partner to join in the journey called life. And because of you, I will lift up and live with love."
