#108 - Be Willing To Invest In Yourself... And Your Career

from Business Side of Music · host The Business Side of Music Podcast

Hemp Meadows and Denim Skye met back in the 1980's as session players, and have been inseparable almost ever since. After being out of the music business for 30+ years, they decided it was time to get back into the entertainment scene, and created their 60's-70's groovy sounding act, "Hemp & Denim". Creating music on an organic level comes naturally to them both. Denim worked with such acts as diverse as Johnny Rotten and Ricardo Montalban, with Hemp working behind the scenes for such acts as REO Speedwagon, Queen, David Bowie, and Prince. They formed a band (which included future "Bangles" member Michael Steele) and signed a deal with A&M Records. Listen as Hemp & Denim explain their success, and how they put together a business plan to ensure that they stayed on the right path.
