Un chaînon manquant dans la grande famille des pulsars vient d'être identifié par une collaboration internationale grâce à des observations effectuées avec le télescope spatial NICER. L'objet caractérisé n'est ni tout à fait un magnétar énergisé par son énorme champ magnétique, ni un pulsar propulsé par son énergie rotationnelle... Une étude publiée dans The Astrophysical Journal.
