Zaretta's research revolves around literacy, vocabulary development and equity. Zaretta established and writes for the blog "Ready4Rigor" and is most widely known at present for her more recent publication: "Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain." Finally, Zaretta is the proud parent of two young adult children, both of whom she taught to read before they went to school. She resides in Berkeley, California with her husband and family.
