Did you know that 85% of Australians are affected in some way by suicide? In 2020, we have lost 3,138 loved ones in Australia to suicide - that equates to 8 people a day. This also includes adolescents from 15 years old. Why is this happening?Melanie Schroder, one of Suicide Programs' Directors, joins the show this week for an in depth discussion about suicide awareness, prevention, and intervention that will enable us to have calm conversations that can save lives. With Mel's 25 years of experience working across government, education, and community sectors with a focus on mental health, suicide intervention & prevention, as well as conflict resolution & peace building, she has developed an organization which facilitates programs aimed to reduce suicide and its impact on individuals, families and communities.
