10@9 My Father Was a Real Moshe - January 16, 2025

from Mining The Riches Of The Parsha · host Rabbi Michael Whitman

This morning I pay tribute to my father, Morris Whitman, who passed away on Chanukah 13 years ago. His Hebrew name was Moshe. We explore why the original Moshe was not named Moshui, which means drawn from the water. The answer given by Siforno and Rabbi S.R. Hirsch very much describes my father's greatest trait, which we should all emulate, and for which my father remains my role model. Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation. We take great pleasure in welcoming everyone with a warm smile, while sharing inspiration through prayer, study, and friendship. Rabbi Whitman shares his thoughts and inspirations through online lectures and shiurim, which are available on: YouTube: / @rabbimichaelwhitman Instagram: / adathmichael Podcast - Mining the Riches of the Parsha: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast...
