10th March 24 - Jonah 3 - No time to lose - Charles Kimbangi

from Christ Church Surbiton Hill · host Christ Church Surbiton Hill

Sunday morning was full of praise, prayer, fellowship and to listen to God's Word. As we have walked through Jonah over the last few weeks I have been struck again by the grace of God. The sailors (chapter 1), Jonah and Nineveh are all recipients of God’s amazing grace. At the start of chapter 3 we read, “Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time…” Here we encounter a God who loves to give us a second chance. In chapter 1, Jonah receives the word of the Lord but runs away in disobedience. But in chapter 3, God gives him a second chance. Often in our lives we don’t get a second chance. We make a monumental error at work, a relationship breaks down, or we make a costly error on the sports field. We often wish we could turn back the clock and start all over. Sometimes we are granted a second chance, and sadly, sometimes we are not. But the great news of the gospel is that, with God, he always gives us a second chance. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” No matter who you are or what you have done – you are never beyond God’s grace and compassion.
