11. My favorite habit hack for better health and more happiness

from The Habit Thrive Podcast ~ Self Care Habits, Mindfulness & Wellness Routines for Women 50 & Beyond · host Lorrie Mickelson, Habits & Self Care

“Timing is everything inside the body.” -Deepak Chopra, MD This quote from one of my favorite books - Change Your Schedule, Change Your Life - perfectly represents our podcast theme for this month: Planning happiness! This week, on Episode #11 of the Habit Thrive Podcast, we talk about My Favorite Habit Hack for Better Health and More Happiness. Have you ever noticed that when you don’t get enough sleep, your whole day feels out of sorts? If you’re like me, you have spent a day in a sleepy fog telling yourself, “I’m going to bed early tonight…” And then suddenly it’s 10:30pm and you’re jumping into bed, trying to force yourself to sleep. Imagine if, instead, you plan to go to bed earlier. You eat dinner at 6. Clean up at 7. Watch some TV, take a hot bath, read a book, relax. Maybe meditate for 20 minutes at 9, and then brush your teeth. By 10pm, you are snuggled under the covers, drifting off… You wake up the next morning feeling refreshed, and all it took was a little planning. The fall season is the perfect time to examine and reset your daily schedule. As the light drops, opportunities arise to change up your eating habits, your sleep habits, exercise habits and everything in between. Consider when you like to relax. When you have the most energy. How much sleep you need to feel your best. What works for me may not work for you. What is important is having a daily schedule that follows your natural flow and rhythm. And remember, this is a work in progress! It might take a week, a few weeks, or even a month; but when you notice what works, stick with it, build on it and enjoy the ride! You have the power to change things that affect how you feel throughout the fall season. As always: Keep being you, nobody else does you better than you! Lorrie xoxox Loving the show? Let’s connect!
