This common pattern in heterosexual M/F relationships involves men and women approaching relationships with different goals but failing to communicate them honestly.Here’s what we’ve observed: men often prioritize sex but aren’t upfront about it, so they pretend to be looking for a relationship to fast-track their way to Bridge 5—Sexual Compatibility. On the other hand, women tend to want emotional depth and a secure connection, but in the rush to solidify a partner, they’re hopping straight from Bridge 1—Attraction—to Bridge 7—Secure Base, sometimes making a brief stop at Bridge 5 to meet their partner’s needs.The problem? Both are skipping over the other bridges that are crucial for building a solid relationship. Bridges like Bias for Communication, Emotional Availability, Safe Haven, and Intimacy are completely overlooked, leaving couples struggling to find lasting connection and fulfillment.In this episode, we unpack why this trope happens, the damage it does, and how to break free from the cycle.
