What does the devil want from the deal, and what do we pay for making this deal with the devil? This question, in a certain dimension will answer what Pharaoh wanted from the Jewish people, and what so many other kings and kingdoms who, on the one hand, seemed to despise us, and yet on the other hand, refused to let us go, by banishing us from their kingdom. Not the other 69 nations of the world, but specifically us. Why? Well, what we have here are two modern-day issues to deal with: (a) What happens when we make a deal with the devil and how to get back our soul from the devil, and (b) what lies behind antisemitism of the ‘Pharaohian Style.’ We will discover the answer to these questions through a Maamor delivered by the Rebbe in 1958, exploring the four terms of redemption, in this week’s Torah-portion.
