There was not, and there is not, any behavioral or functional purpose of the Law, nor any indirect moral purpose of the Law. Did God expect the Israelites to keep the law perfectly and completely, and thus to function as He Himself functions behaviorally, manifesting behavior that expressed the quality of His own character?
