As a sophomore he suffered a serious injury to his spleen during a baseball game. He was airlifted to the hospital and was out of action for 3 months. He got back just in time for football season but not enough time to win the starting quarterback job. A year later, he won that starting job and has led Warsaw to the sectional finals this year.
