from Black Girls Texting · host PodcastOne

Chelsea, Glynn and Sade get to chat with two amazing nail techs! We spoke to Leanne (IG @she.nails.it) and Estasha (IG @heartandsolnails) about the current state of the nail industry. How they are runing their businesses during Covid-19. How they got started and just being boss ass WOC in this industry! More about our guests: Estasha (@heartandsolnails )- Heart and Sol Nails was founded in 2018 in San Francisco by owner and independent nail HeARTist, Estasha Goodwin. Prior to becoming a licensed nail technician Estasha received monthly gel manicures as a form of self care and creative expression. These appointments became rituals filled with pampering and communion between her and her nail artist. These experiences as a client shaped what would become Heart and Sol Nails. Now Estasha is on the other side of the table and provides a safe and encouraging environment for her clients to receive high quality nail care and customized nail art that envokes each individuals' personality and power to harness joy and strength. Estasha believes that by putting her heart and soul into every nail she paints she can showcase that nail care can be a powerful tool for personal growth and not just an everyday beauty service. Leanne (IG @she.nails.it) moved to NYC in 2012, she began her career in nails after 2 1/2 years of assisting as a stylist. After spending two years working in a Japanese nail art salon, she went on to working for herself, which led to assisting opportunities like working on Jin Soon's team, working as key artist, as well as maintaining her personal clients.
