#112 The Commonwealth Games Scotland On Standby

from Anything but Footy · host Anything but Footy

The Commonwealth Games are "dying out a little bit unfortunately"- the view of proud Scottish world champion Beth Potter - who competed in Glasgow in 2014 in athletics and won Team Scotland’s first medal in the triathlon in the sunshine in Sutton Park in Birmingham in 2022. But since that superb summer in England’s second city, the storm clouds have surrounded the Commonwealth Games Federation, when the state of Victoria and Australia pulled out of hosting in 2026. Now 10 years on from their own glorious Games in Glasgow, Commonwealth Games Scotland has stepped up and said if the CGF can’t find another host by it’s own deadline of May this year (2024), it’s come up with a new concept for the Commonwealth Games, which could also secure it’s long term future. Scotland is on standby and this is the story so far. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
