113: America's Baby Bust & The Hidden Reason Fewer Men Want to Become Fathers

Our birth rate has fallen from the 2.1 children per woman needed to sustain our population down to around 1.6, and I don't believe that decline is really about babies at all. As a father of six and grandfather of four, I dig into what this "baby bust" actually reveals: declining hope, delayed adulthood, a real fear of commitment, and a culture that has taught men to chase individual fulfillment instead of generational investment.I walk through the specific pressures pulling men away from marriage and fatherhood, financial uncertainty, the fear of repeating a painful divorce or a broken relationship with their own father, and confusing, contradictory messages about what masculinity is even supposed to look like anymore. I also get direct about two things I think are quietly devastating this generation of men: pornography replacing real intimacy in marriages, and video games and social media replacing the adventure and community men were actually built for. None of this is meant as an excuse, it's meant to help us see clearly where we've let ourselves off the hook.At the heart of this conversation is a challenge I'm asking every man listening to sit with: are you building a life worth passing on? Fatherhood, mentorship, and legacy aren't about how much money you make or how comfortable you've become, they're about intentionality, humility, and believing that tomorrow actually matters.
