#113: Building Confidence in Kids with ADHD

from Shining With ADHD by The Childhood Collective · host The Childhood Collective

The truth is, kids with ADHD get SO many more corrections and instructions than kids who don’t have ADHD. This can really impact how they see themselves, and research tells us that kids with ADHD tend to have lower self-esteem than their peers. As parents, we want to help our kids build confidence! Empowering our children to understand their gifts and talents goes a long way toward developing emotional health. In this episode, our team discusses three simple strategies for building healthy self-esteem in children with ADHD. We share personal stories about our own families and some of the struggles (and solutions!) we have faced in supporting confidence in our own kids. MEET OUR TEAMWe are Lori, Mallory, and Katie. Lori and Mallory are child psychologists, and Katie is a speech language pathologist. We’ve spent decades supporting thousands of families navigating ADHD. And we’re also moms: some of us raising kids with ADHD and some of us navigating it ourselves… which means we understand both the science and the real-life moments that don’t make it into textbooks.LINKS + RESOURCESFree Parenting Guide - 6 KeysCreating Calm Parenting Course            The Childhood Collective InstagramThe Childhood Collective YouTube *Closed Captioning AvailableHave a question or want to share some thoughts?
