#113 - Gor Khatchikyan, arts spoedeisende hulp (S01)

GOR KHATCHIKYAN: ‘Alles wat ik verkondig wil ik meegemaakt hebben’ In Onderweg is Gor Khatchikyan te gast, hij is arts, spreker en schrijver. Hij groeit op in Armenië maar als hij twaalf is vlucht het gezin naar Nederland. Zijn eerste nacht in Nederland brengt hij door onder een boom in Den Bosch. Een onzekere asielprocedure van acht jaar volgt. In de tussentijd gaat Gor op Texel naar de middelbare school en doet hij zijn uiterste best om zo hoog mogelijke cijfers te halen. Het gezin wordt opgenomen in de lokale Baptistengemeente. Gor heeft veel steun aan zijn geloof in deze moeilijke tijd. Dankzij het generaal pardon mag het gezin Khatchikyan in Nederland blijven. Gor rondt zijn universitaire opleiding Geneeskunde af en wordt arts. Tegenwoordig werkt hij op de spoedeisende hulp in Utrecht. Gor wordt in de christelijke wereld veel gevraagd als spreker maar dat wil hij niet full-time doen. Hij vindt het belangrijk om als arts midden in de maatschappij te staan. Hij zegt: ‘Alles wat ik verkondig wil ik meegemaakt hebben’. Gor Khatchikyan is een uur lang in gesprek met Elsbeth Gruteke over zijn werk en zijn leven.
