#116. Japanese learning package sample, "Ohayo gozaimasu"

Well, today I'll show you a sample good morning from that package. 「おはようございます」 is a morning greeting, but in Japan, the sunrise on January 1st is called 初日の出. Hatsuhinode refers to the sunrise on January 1st, it is the first dawn of the year and is considered to be a "happy occasion". Many people climb mountains such as Mt.Fuji to see 初日の出. When you see Hatsuhinode, you won't greet おはようございます, but おめでとうございます, because it's special greeting on New Year's Day. I hope you learned something new today. Enjoy your day.
