117 - Interview with Albert Chen, founder and CEO, Kalista

Kalista is a young player founded by Albert Chen dedicated to optimize storage and especially SMR (Shingled Magnetic Recording) based storage infrastructure. We met Albert inJanuary during the 41st edition of The IT Press Tour and I found this approach super interesting wishing to dig more. I also realized that doing with interview with him would be a good idea. So we did it a few days ago and here is the result. Albert shared lots of information around CMR and SMR, why and how he started the project, how it works, what are the advantages of its product Phalanx, the various use cases and integrations with MinIO, Ceph or Hadoop but also crypto stuff, and we conclude with a bit of future.
