逮(dǎi)“逮”是个会意字，本义是经过追赶后，试图抓住。金文的“逮”，字形上部是个手形，下方是个动物尾巴的形状，合在一起就是用手抓住了动物的尾巴，表示已经逮住。楷书为了表现出追赶之义，又在底部加上了一个“辵”字。“逮”也引申为赶得上，如《礼记·曲礼》中“逮事父母”，意思就是还赶得上侍奉父母。（经过一阵追赶，猎人终于用手逮住了野兽的尾巴。）
