In this episode, they chat with Ukrainian writer and standup comic Galina Rivina about her upbringing in Odesa and Ohio; Russian / Ukrainian superstitions; her standup career in LA; the power of positive thinking; and the eternal wisdom of the Fast and Furious franchise. ... Galina Rivina is a stand up comedian and writer based in Los Angeles, CA. Originally born and raised in Ukraine, she made it to the U.S. just in time to not have an irksome soviet accent. However, childhood as an immigrant has an undeniable influence on her comedy (as does being a woman, navigating life as a millennial, and day-to-day havoc of being a human being). It’s suspected that the lingering Chernobyl exposure gave her one-liner and short form story-telling a bit of the razzle dazzle. She routinely performs at local clubs. She recently started featuring on the road for Preacher Lawson and has performed at clubs in San Diego, Phoenix, Portland, Winnipeg, NYC, and abroad.
