12-29-21: A spectacular story of transformation
from SAX IN THE MORNING · host Steve Sax
I would love to hear from you, just send me text and let me know what you think of the podcast. It’s almost the new year and it’s a time of renewal and rebirth so I thought I would share one of the most amazing stories of transformation I read this last year. That is the story of Drew Robinson. Drew is a minor league baseball player who survived a suicide attempt where he shot himself and lost his right eye. It took him 20 hours to decide he wanted to live and he called 911. Drew came back to play a season for the Sacramento Rivercats, where he hit three home runs with one eye. He shared his story with Jeff Passan of ESPN and later with the San Francisco Giants major league club on Suicide Prevention Day. That has led him to retire and pursue a new calling as a speaker and mental health advocate. Listen to hear more about Drew’s story and read Passan’s piece linked below.
