#12. A decade of chronic pain & immobility, to thriving in a year: the power of natural movement & holistic healing with Samphire Hayes

from Make Movement Matter with Wendy Welpton · host Wendy Welpton

In the second episode of season 2, I have a conversation that resonated very strongly with my own experience of pain and recovery.   Samphire Hayes reached out to me about her story and I replied immediately. We share a story of chronic pain and of having to search for why our bodies were reacting that way.  Our solutions were similar in terms of adopting a natural movement lifestyle and Samphire went even further to uncover her own story, by studying and adopting new practises she had never heard of before. Like myself, she has now chosen to use her learning and insight to help others.  This conversation explores the experience of living with chronic pain and the journey towards building strength and finding hope. We talked about the link between chronic pain and trauma, as well as the impact of chronic pain on mental health. We cover the importance of self-advocacy, the power of small movements, breathwork and mindfulness and more, and the key moment when Samphire chose to ‘ditch the sofa’ that had been her prison.  If you enjoy this podcast, please support the show by pressing Follow & giving a Rating.
