When you do have that one prep that goes flawlessly from start to finish, you remember that prep forever. However, the fact is, there are many obstacles that can pop up during a prep unexpectedly – and you must allow for this. The more time you have to deal with any obstacles, the better; 3) When you have an athlete the size of Dallas that trains with the volume and intensity that he does, this variable is a huge part of his prep. Being able to keep his food amounts high will ensure that his training is always at 100%; 4) This ties in with #3 – when you are in this type of shape early on – cardio can be kept to a minimum. Dallas will probably never do more than 3 days of cardio a week and his cardio will probably never be longer than 30 minutes in duration. The ideal situation would be the deeper we get into the diet, the more we will have to back off of cardio and increase his calories. By doing this, it ensures that his training will be balls to the wall all the way through the prep, again, which is critical for a guy like Dallas; 5) By keeping his food intake at a higher level, it ensures we will not have to deplete him down. The body will also be used to holding much more glycogen – this is probably one of the most critical mistakes "big guys" make – they end up in a depleted state through most of their prep and therefore find it difficult to maintain any kind of fullness when loading come contest time. When you are in the 300 pound range, you cannot expect to deplete and load – everything must be a much more consistent/balanced process. If he was in a depleted state for any period of time, it would realistically take 2 weeks of time to get his body stable and full, but by maintaining a consistent level throughout the process we are able to manipulate the body much more easily come show time. —————————————— Listener Question of the Day If you have a question you would like us to answer for you submit it on our website: www.newyorkmuscleradio.com/listenerquestion Or you can call your question in at: 508- 687-2534 Question – Play from vmail
