12. How "Buoyancy" Can Help You
from Healing Medicine: Mindfulness, Mindset & Physician Well-Being · host Dr. Jessie Mahoney, Dr. Ni-Cheng Liang and The Doctor Podcast Network
Buoyancy is a word and a concept that you can use to change your life experience. In this episode we share how you can use words and language to change and/or color your life experiences in ways that serve you, while staying true to your experience. Buoyancy is a tool that can help you navigate storms and choppy seas. It is different from resilience and it is different from floating. It is a feeling that is spacious, light, and easeful. Buoyant things stay afloat, no matter the seas. Buoyancy relies on inner strength, calm, confidence, and spaciousness. When you're pushed under, you bounce back. When the seas are rough, you may bob or toss and turn but you don't sink. Buoyant objects and people have no bricks weighing them down. They let heavy things go. They are balanced and in alignment. They are responsive and not reactive. How can you create more buoyancy in your own life? What characteristics of buoyancy do you already have? Buoyancy in all areas of your life can be created by practicing mindfulness, yoga, and through mindful coaching.
