So far in 2026, 12 U.S. children have died after being left in a car in the heat, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). WWJ's Ryan Wrecker spoke with Laura Dunn, a Highway Safety Specialist with NHTSA, who said the inside of a car can become fatally hot in minutes, even if it's as cool as 60 degrees outside.
