#12 Knowledge, Action, State – Part II

from The Witness Within · host Musa Muhaiyaddeen

Questioner: Thank you Musa for that talk and as a follow up question to that, can you tell us why so many people miss their birthright and why we are so unaware of what is available to us and we go about our lives without fully taking advantage of our birthright and understanding what is available to us?Musa: There are lots of reasons. And the reasons are similar yet different for each of us. They have to do with where we were born, who our parents are, how we were raised, and they also have to do with the overwhelming nature of the hypnotism and the magnetism of the world. In order to find peace within yourself and in order to go on this path of looking for yourself, somewhere along the line you have to get tired of looking for stuff in the world. Somewhere along the line you have to become somehow jaded with what is available in the world. Somehow you have to become aware of the fact that what was available out there is not what you wanted, that what is available out there didn’t exactly suit your taste. Now, as long as you are satisfied with what is available in the world why would you turn away? As long as you are satisfied with what is available in the world why would you go looking for something else? It doesn’t occur to somebody until they begin to examine their own existence and begin to ask questions of themselves like, what am I really looking for, and what am I accomplishing by all of the things that I am doing in the world? Somewhere along the line people who truly examine themselves will understand the fleeting nature of the rewards of the world. They will begin to understand that there is no depth to them, that they can all disappear in an instant. That everything that we get in the world is subject to destruction and subject to disappointment. This may freak people out. It may terribly disappoint some people. It may make them, when they discover this, emotional wrecks. It may stop them from functioning. It may send them to insane asylums. And that is why you need a strong basis in knowledge. And that is why you need some sort of guidance while you are going through this. But once those realizations hit home and once that taste for the world begins to dissipate and once the static of all of the advertisements of the world no longer affect you, you can begin to see more clearly.
