12: Operation Paperclip

from The Dale Show · host Dale Deruiter

Operation Paperclip was a secret United States intelligence program in which more than 1,600 German scientists, engineers, and technicians were taken from former Nazi Germany to the U.S. for government employment after the end of World War II in Europe, between 1945 and 1959. After Germany failed in their attack on Russia Werner Osenberg started to recall all the top German scientists out of the battle front to come back to Germany to work on technology. He created a list called the Osenberg and after Germany fell, a polish maid found the list in a toilet and sent it to Britain. The list ended up in the hands of the USA and they used the list to launch Operation Overcast to gather German scientists to help beat Japan. Once Japan was defeated the whole thing was renamed Operation Paperclip. Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thedaleshow Merch: https://www.redbubble.com/shop/ap/90692030
