12. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as a Treatment for COVID | an Interview with Dr. Xiaoyan Wang

from The Wisdom Tradition | a philosophy podcast · host Alexander Sachon

Hey folks, in today's episode I have an interview with a special guest: Dr. Xiaoyan Wang, a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practicing in Richmond, Virginia. In this episode, we talk about the fundamentals of TCM, how it diagnoses and treats illness, and how its approach differs from the drug-based approach of Western medicine . Importantly we also discuss the fact that TCM has been used to great effect in treating patients with COVID-related illnesses. Most people today - in the US and elsewhere - are incorrectly taught to believe that there are no treatments available for COVID illness. Consequently, most believe that if you get ill, there's nothing that can be done for you unless you're brought into a hospital and put on a ventilator. Despite this widespread view, the truth is that there are several early to mid-stage treatments for COVID that have proven to be effective. In the alternative media in the West, we are seeing widespread reports that Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin are two drugs that have shown to be effective, but we've heard little about TCM as a third major form of treatment. Many, many people have used TCM to use successfully treat COVID illness (my roommate being one of them) and in this episode we are going to delve into the basic ideas behind how it works.
