12. Yoga as a Spiritual Tool

from Is This Sh!t Legit? · host Heather Hornung & Keri Emme

In this episode of Is This Sh!t Legit? we're talking all about yoga.  We go into the history and origins, the different types, and the original intention behind yoga as a practice. In her research, Keri found that the practice of yoga has evolved a lot since its beginnings to get to where it is now. With the British colonization of India, the idea of productivity was introduced into the Indian culture making yoga illegal to practice. Leading a yogic lifestyle became taboo forcing it underground. This fundamentally changed yoga as a lot of the original texts were lost and/or incorrectly translated.  When yoga was introduced to the western world with its obsession with fitness it became a new way to workout. Again, a departure from its original intention.  Keri shares about how her yoga practice is an essential part of her wellbeing and her preference to practice solo. Heather shares about her journey with yoga and her love of a challenge that she finds through her practice.   Do you have a yoga practice? How does it enhance your life?
