Since sex typically precedes commitment, the path to long-term relationships requires first succeeding at short-term attraction dynamics, then maintaining those behaviors over time.Men tend to cheat while staying in relationships (often due to opportunity rather than dissatisfaction), while women are more likely to cheat as a way to transition to better relationships. Women may also engage in "consecutive cheating" — ending one relationship and immediately starting another, which technically isn't infidelity but serves a similar function.Focus on attraction first, everything else second.
