122: Reel It Back- 25 Years of Heat

from Reel Chronicles

Reel Chronicles celebrates 25 years of Michael Mann’s Heat this week. The film tells the story about two weary men on either side of the law in Los Angeles – one a cop married to his profession, the other a career criminal with no intention of going straight.  A powerful, influential film with striking performances and striking camera and script work from Mann, along with cinematography from Dante Spinotti and a score by Elliott Goldenthal, Heat is a film not to be missed. It’s also notable for marking the first time acting icons Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro have worked onscreen together (they never shared the screen with The Godfather Part II despite being in the film together).  Listen as we delve into what makes this crime drama so great.  Episode Timeline: 0:00 – 19:00 – News of the Week Bob Iger Resigns as CEO of the Walt Disney Company James Mangold in talks to direct Indiana Jones 5 after Spielberg drops out Candyman Trailer David’s The Invisible Man Reaction Henry Cavill’s Wolverine Rumors “The Killing Joke” 19:01 – 1:03:53 – Heat Listen to past episodes: 121: Reel It Back – The Breakfast Club 120: Best Film Performances and Oscars 2020 Recap 119: Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) 118: Best & Worst Best Pictures Winners 117: Best and Worst Oscar Wins and Best Picture Years Follow your hosts: David – @gonzo_mania, Ryan @spin_rack, and Leo @luckyleo171 Love what you hear?
