Get comfortable being sensually seen by embodying pleasure here on episode #126 “Being Sensually Seen Part 2” of The Sensual Sessions Podcast with host Candia Raquel and guest Melanie Maar, Dance Artist, Teacher and Sensxuality Guide.   🔥 About Melanie Maar Born and now based again in Vienna, Austria as the daughter of a dancer and a therapist, I was led to be curious about the sensual and the rational realms from a young age. I chose to continue life in New York City as a professional dancer, choreographer and teacher over the last 28 years. I also created a program called ‘process as guide’ for creatives interested in art/life processes, co-founded ‘school of dying’ in 2021 and became a guide for sensxual integration. I feel a deep sense of purpose and curiosity in art-life processes. My mother’s dance studio was in our house, so I grew up with the challenge and beauty of a lack of separation between life and art. ‘Being in art ‘, can be a way to consciously ‘not know’ and thus resist technocracy's greed for transparency, internalized productivity and self-improvement. I use my skills to activate subtler sensory perceptions in my audience, students and clients as to trick our habitual selves into the mystery of sensual presence. It was shame and debilitating psycho-somatic symptoms I carried in my body, the suffering in romantic relationships, blocks in my artistic life and a sense that my sexual self and powers were not fully my own that led me to study and change through Jungian Psychology, Sexological Bodywork and then Somatic Sexology over the last 6 years.  Developing Sensxual Integration Sessions clarified for me that the continuum between our creative, our sexual, our spiritual and our relational self provides an intimate inner guidance. It gives me joy to guide people in their self-guidance, experiencing new sensations, relational dynamics and perspectives that can bring more intimacy, presence and agency into all aspects of our lives.
