126 – Revive Yourself – Peter Marcasciano On Training Athletes, Human Health & Performance, Today’s Society & Much More

from Revive Yourself Podcast With Ryan Martin · host Revive Yourself Podcast With Ryan Martin

Today I have a particularly special guest on the show for many reasons. Peter Marcasciano (also affectionately known as Yoda by his close friends and those in the know) is not only one of the best and most knowledgeable strength and conditioning coaches I have ever had the pleasure to meet, he is also the mentor to my original mentor Ruben Tabares. This means I can safely say that without Pete being around, myself and Ruben wouldn’t be the coaches, and probably even the people we are today   Pete is also a self confessed introvert, who shuns the limelight and interviews, so the fact we have him on today is a real coup. A little research into Peter’s background would tell you that he has been a specialist in physiotherapy and strength and conditioning for nearly 30 years, overseeing the wellbeing of number of athletes and high-profile clients. He specializes in sports-specific rehabilitation, bio-mechanics, stretching, strength, and power generation, fat loss, and nutritional strategies for optimum well-being and performance. Peter has been a regular guest speaker for the country’s top training providers for over 20 years designing and delivering training courses for aspiring personal trainers and sports therapists, many of whom now hold key positions in the health/sports/fitness industry. His list of clients ranges from world champions to celebrities, as well as delivering bespoke training packages to teams, athletes, and blue chip companies. His unique, holistic methods of training and nutrition are keenly sought, particularly when traditional dealing with difficult or perplexing health and fitness issues have failed. In the episode we discuss: How Peter got into being a strength & conditioning coach How comic influenced his style of training  How he was the first coach to introduce weight training to boxing athletes His time teaching and writing the first courses for Premier  Why being a pioneer in the personal training world led to him facing ridicule  Why he would rather mentor someone with character over qualifications  Why it’s important not to trust someone just because they have been given expert status The way that society is now, and how a lack of personal responsibility is affecting people & much much more. Talking to Pete was a pleasure. In fact we could have gone on all day.  I will definitely be aiming to get him back on the show to go deeper into this, and other topics.    You can find Peter here: http://www.rubentabares.com/?page_id=16 Enjoy the show and don’t forget to share it with your friends and family, as well as writing a comment, or a review on iTunes.
