Happy Diwali Everyone!In rugby union: Samoa men shut out Papua New Guinea 24 nil to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in rugby 7s.In the women's Olympic qualifiers, Fiji after thrashing Papua New Guinea women 54 zip at Ballymore in Brisbane yesterday.In rugby league: Australian Rugby League BIG boss man, Peter V’landys and NRL Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Abdo are reported to be preparing to announce within weeks, up to A$1Million in salary cap relief for NRL Clubs to sign players from rival codes and sports worldwide, especially to recruit players from South Africa and Argentina as well as from the NFL.South Sydney and NRL star Latrell Mitchell’s 14-year-old cousin has been identified as one of two teenagers killed in a horror northern New South Wales car crash in the early hours of Saturday morning.Three others are in hospital.In combat sports: Alex Pereira has entered the UFC history books as their ninth fighter to become a two-weight World Champion, defeating Jiri Prochazka via second-round TKO to claim the UFC Light Heavyweight belt.The former UFC Middleweight Champion, whose UFC debut came at Madison Square Garden back in 2021, made his mark once more at the New York venue in UFC295 yesterday.And the UK has a new UFC Champion.In his first shot at UFC gold, Tom Aspinall made quick work of fellow heavyweight contender Sergei Pavlovich to claim a first-round knockout in just over one minute at UFC295.This heavyweight scrap was always expected to be over pretty fast given Pavlovich previously held the record for the longest UFC first-round knockout win streak of six in the modern era.But what he didn’t know was that Aspinall had 12 first-round finishes of his own – well 13 now!Earlier, Australian Flyweight, Steve Erceg defeated Alessandro Costa by unanimous decision, extending his MMA winning streak to 10 fights.And finally in football: Former Ghana striker Raphael Dwamena died after suffering a heart attack during an Albanian league match.Players from both sides rushed to his side the moment the player collapsed to the turf in the 24th minute of the game.
